It Is About How You Live Your Life!

April 10, 2008

You have watched the video by now!  How are you living your life?

Many times we overlook the true meaning to life!  It is my mission to help others see that life is about much more than ever portrayed in today’s society.  It starts through watching inspirational videos such as what you have just watched.  You can continue by reading books that help facilitate your growth as an individual.  More importantly you can grow spiritually.  What is your life’s purpose?

Everyone has a purpose!  And everyone has at least one dream that they have yet to accomplish.  Some of these dreams we don’t believe we will ever accomplish.  It has been learned that we can only achieve a certain level of success.  We are limited in our minds and our beliefs.  However, if stop and you look around, there are many that we know achieving their dreams, people that we know who enjoy every day they have on this earth regardless of the circumstances, and there are many who strive to continually achieve more!  In the book Never Eat Alone, Keith Ferrazzi quoted an individual he had met saying, “A goal is a dream with a deadline.”  Don’t just dream, begin to act and begin to realize that our life is a gift and there is much more that we can experience than our minds or mentors sometimes allow.

Life is too short to worry about…anything!  To live life, is to live everyday as if it were your last.  Cliche?  Yes!  If you continue to overlook the meaning of your life and your purpose, you will miss the opportunities and excitement of each day!

The Characters of Who Moved My Cheese?  WHO MOVED MY CHEESE?  Finding the Cheese

What is your cheese?  If you haven’t read this book, I suggest you take an hour, read the book and learn more about the reality of change that you face in life.  Why are we so opposed to change?  Are we truly comfortable where we are at?  Do we find ourself in question about our purpose?  Do we want to find more cheese?

Change can be viewed as frightening to many.  Change takes us out of our comfort zone as we move towards the unknown.  When did you last make a big change?  Were you surprised at the outcome?  When I left RBC Dain Rauscher, I was entering the unknown without a map of where to go.  When I was at Dain I enjoyed everyone I worked with and had an opportunity that many may never experience.  However, a year ago I was asking myself what I wanted in life?  What was my cheese?

It was a difficult process for me.  In the story you will find there are four characters to compare yourself too: Sniff, Scurry, Hem and Haw.  Find out who you are!  Find out if you want to remain like them.  I found out that I was Haw.  I was scared to leave what I thought was comfortable for the previous 1.5 years and didn’t know exactly where I was going.  I was more clear on what I wanted, Cheese!  I knew it was out there and it was a matter of time before I would find it.  A funny thing happened when I finally chose to resign from Dain.  I met with my now business partner, Adam Carroll, and we talked about what was ahead.  I was two days from my last day as an investment adviser.  He shared with me his vision that was much in line with the cheese I was after.  Little did I know, I would soon become a part of a plan much bigger that I had ever imagined.

I now know what kind of cheese I am in search of and will do what it takes to find it.  Once I find it, I will consider going after more cheese, maybe the same, maybe different.  What I do know is that the changes I have encountered since April 2007, have shaped my view of change forever.  I will not shy away from change, I will face it and embrace it.  Change for many can be the best thing that happens in their life.  Today I am living with more freedom knowing that I will continue to move towards new cheese, every hour, every day, every week, every month, every year, and forever.  What is your cheese?  Are you moving towards it?  If you were to go in search of the cheese and found it, would you be less fearful about finding more?  What if you never went in search of the cheese?  The cheese will move, so don’t be afraid to find new cheese!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

REFLECT on the time we spend with our family and friends around the Holiday Season!  We have so much to be thankful for and so much to learn.  Life is all about the relationships we have created and enjoying the gifts we have been given from God.  Amidst the chaos and interruption, we seem to forget why this time of year is so important.  We are able to look back over the last 12 months, for some of us spend time with family we haven’t seen since the last Holiday season, and share stories about our experiences that will help shape our future.  Each year we approach January 1st to begin a new year with new goals and new dreams.  We rush into the new year forgetting to take time to look back and learn from our experiences over the last 12 months.  Reflection is defined as a thought, idea, or opinion formed or a remark made as a result of meditation; or consideration of some subject matter, idea, or purpose(Merriam-Webster’s Online Dictionary).  I compel everyone to spend 30 minutes to reflect!  Reflect about whatever you see important in your life and share your reflection with others, either in conversation or here.  Let’s help inspire others to begin a great 2008!

Four Legacies Header

Four Legacies Mortgage began from of a common vision!  In today’s society there are many hurdles we face to living a truly abundant life .  We believe that the Four Legacies of Financial Freedom, Time Freedom, Relationship Freedom and Service Freedom are important to all.

Financial Freedom is at the forefront.  Once we find our freedom point, where we no longer have to worry about the constraints of money, we will have the time freedom necessary to enjoy the relationship freedom we desire and as a result be a servant to others in need.

I have learned that my passion is serving others.  If I can help individuals achieve Financial Freedom, I will find happiness in knowing that what I have done for my family and friends is created an opportunity for them to move closer to an abundant life.
